"Spyro the Dragon" Becomes Film

The Animation Picture Co. has optioned the feature rights to Sierra Entertainment's "Spyro the Dragon" franchise with plans to produce a stereoscopic 3-D computer-animated feature reports the trades.

The story follows Spyro, a rare purple dragon of prophecy, on a voyage of self-discovery as he struggles to come to terms with his potential while finding himself embroiled in an epic struggle against evil.

Brothers Steve and Daniel Altiere ("Dr. Dolittle 4") will adapt the screenplay from the trilogy of games. No director has yet been hired.

Spyro? as in that little purple dragon that can only glide when you control him in the games but yet can fly in the cutscenes?
I hope its not going to be like another Eragon movie...

I'm still more looking forward to the Temeraire film/s than anything.
